Submission Guidelines

WE WANT
Prose/Poetry Pieces: Fiction or non-Fiction prose pieces of up to 600 words or poetry of up to 450 words. Any form or theme will be considered, subject to editorial consideration.
Book Reviews (will appear in the Misc. Articles section): We're interested in reviews of new or classic books - reviews should be no more than 450 words and express a clear opinion regarding the book in question. Software reviews will also be considered, with priority being given to reviews of freeware/open source (not commercial) utilities and reviews of classic games with significant literary merit.
Opinion Pieces: Got a socio-political, academic, philosophical/theological or local issue you want to talk about? We're looking for well-reasoned thesis of up to 600 words to print in SCOURGE. See something you don't disagree with in the magazine? Well thought-out rebuttals that address the issues and avoid personal attacks will be put on the fast track for publication in the next issue!
News/Interest Articles (will appear in the Misc. Articles section): Can be recent or historical items of local, national, or international interest, hobbyist topics (no physical sports or commercial music, please), or tutorials such as computer tips, simple recipes, etc. (must include photos/screenshots attached separately in .gif or .png format where appropriate). No article should be longer than 600 words.
Cartoons (will appear on our homepage): We're looking for a number of dedicated, quality cartoons (whether comic strip or political cartoon) to publish in the magazine on a regular basis. Each individual cartoon should take up no more than half a side of A5. Cartoonists should send their proposed first piece in .gif or .png format along with a brief description of the series for editorial consideration.
Cryptic Crosswords (will appear on the homepage): Intelligent but not overly obscure crosswords and puzzles created by hand (not generated online). We'll be looking to print one to three puzzles per issue. Each crossword should be clearly legible at half A5 size and should be in .gif or .png format with the clues and answers sent in the body of the email.

If you're planning to write an article specifically for the magazine, please provide us with a brief (1 paragraph) summary of the proposed material. We'll be able to tell you whether it's something we're interested in printing or not before you start working on it.
