Issue One of SCOURGE Magazine is rolling off the presses as we speak, and you can see it for yourself right here. Click "Read More" for details.
Also, please make time to take a look at two new excellent submissions from George Terry and Richard Meads - you can find them in the Prose and Misc sections!
New Updates, Events Coverage

Three new poems uploaded, courtesy of Molly Drury and Hannah Pickering - click here to go to our Poetry Corner and check them out!
A new Opinion piece has also been added - should the teaching of 'consideration', currently part of the primary curriculum, be extended into comprehensive education? Sabrina Ward thinks so, and has argued her case compellingly in 'Teaching Consideration'.
Last Friday saw Bath Spa University's annual Student Versus Staff Poetry Slam in aid of Comic Relief. SCOURGE Magazine had a reporter on the ground to capture the action. Check out Kelcie-Gene Schaffer's blow-by-blow account of the Slam with a full results table here.

Four excellent new pieces have been contributed by James Edwards and Richard Oxenham - you can find them in our Poetry and Prose sections! Please bear in mind that in terms of material for the print edition we're now looking for interest articles, opinion pieces, reviews and tutorials.
Any artists should bear in mind that we're looking for a number of cartoons (whether sequential or political) to publish on a regular basis. This is an especially good opportunity for writers already publishing a strip online.
We're also looking for a photographer to provide a thoughtful juxtaposition of local landmarks for the cover of the first print edition - to contact the editor to enquire about either of these opportunities, click here.
SCOURGE Magazine is being produced in association with Ambidextrous , so if you like what you see here, be sure to check out their other projects by clicking on their logo to the left, or on their Facebook site!
Into Print Students

Mimi Thebo very kindly let me take five minutes out of her plenary lecture today to make Year 2 students in the Into Print module aware of the publishing opportunities available with SCOURGE Magazine. Mimi has agreed that submissions or pitches made to SCOURGE will receive credit, but has stipulated a deadline of March 12 for her students.
New Submissions Deadline

Thanks to Daniel P. Cooper and James Williamson for their excellent poetry and prose submissions, which have a common theme in "the journey". You can find them in our Poetry and Prose sections! Students at the Newton Park and Sion Hill campuses may have noticed the new SCOURGE posters popping up around the place; I've also asked Julie DePledge and Stuart Henley (the Graphic Communication BA course leader) for assistance finding students who might be willing to lend a hand in putting together the print edition of the magazine, but I'm also interested in what Sion Hill students have to say; opinion pieces concerning art and graphic design are particularly welcome.
Please note that the new deadline for submissions is the 6th of April; we're really looking for opinion pieces and interest articles at this point, though of course more prose and poetry is always welcome, and will be published on the website. See our 'Submit Content' section for more details on what we're looking for!

New prose pieces up, courtesy of Emelie Lamplough, Richard Oxenham and George Terry - check them out in our dedicated Prose Area !
For future contributors, please bear in mind that the 'deadline' is for the 31st of January - we're now principally looking for interest articles, opinion pieces, tutorials, and cartoons/art, although obviously we're always interested in any prose and poetry you may have to offer.

We'll upload the best articles and prose and poetry submissions from our previous issues for online viewing; you'll be able to access each section from the navigation bar at the top of the page.
If you want to contribute to the magazine, please contact the editor here with a brief summary of the proposed material.
